can be retraced through Scott County along the path of the "Wilderness Road" that was blazed westward
to the Cumberland Gap in the late 1700's. The Scott County Park and Mocassin Hills
Golf Course offer picnicking
, golfing and tennis for guests. The northern end of the county plays host to the Jefferson National Forest which has endless opportunities of hiking,
hunting, camping,
fishing, and picnicking. "The Homeplace Mountain Farm and Museum" exhibits the rugged authenticity of an Appalachian Farmstead. View the day-to-day workings of a mountain
farm and everyday life of early settlers. At Natural Tunnel State Park, guests can view the "8th Wonder of the World," a magnificent 850 foot long natural
tunnel carved through the mountainside by the forces of nature over millions of years. Also available at the park are camping
with electric/water hook-ups, chairlift into the scenic gorge, swimming pool
, and interpretive programming. The park's visitor center contains a gift shop and displays a local railroad
and geologic history.
