12. Elias, "Loss" ARNETT(1) (photo) was born on Mar 19 1882 in Toms' Creek near Balkan,Bell-Harlan Co. KY. He died on Aug 30 1997 in Middlesbora KY. He was buried in Trent Cemetary, Rose Hill, VA. Elias S. "Loss" Arnett was borne on Toms Creek near Balkan (Bell Co.), Ky. He was the seventh of fourteen children.
He carried mail from Wasioto to Harlan-Bell line in a saddle bags (riding a small horse) across Laurel Hill and Tan Yard to the county line for his father who had a contact. There he would exchange saddle bags and return the Harlan mail to Wasioto. As a young man Elais Arnett worked at Asher's Mill at Pineville, KY. He worked at several jobs. He told about hauling wagon loads of supplies across the narrows and dangerous mountain roads into Clay County to Asher workers located there.He cut timber and drove oxen for Asher in Leslie Co. About 1906-07 he went to Lee County, VA. where he worked on a farm for ____ Shakleford. There he met and married Dorsie Montgomery. Except for about nine months in 1920 (when they lived on Williams Branch, Bell Co.) they lived all of their married lives in Lee Co., VA. Although he worked at various jobs, (off season and when his sons were old enough to tend the farm) his main occupation was that of a farmer. He lived on a farms on Martins Creekand on a farm near the Trent Cementery, and Frog Level near Ewing. He helped build the rail for up on Pucket Creek(Bell County) and worked in a brick factory in Rose Hill, VA. He bought a farm with his son David outside of Rose Hill, VA about 1946 where he lived in his later years. He was 94 years of age when he died. He was married to Dorothy 'Dorsie" MONTGOMERY on Nov 22 1908 in Cumberland Gap, Tenn??.

13. Dorothy 'Dorsie" MONTGOMERY (2) (photo) was born on Aug 10 1892 in Tenn.. She died on Mar 9 1963 in Rose Hill, VA 24281. She was buried in Trent Cemetary, Rose Hill, VA. Children were:

child i. James Dallard ARNETT was born on Sep 12 1909 in Lee County,VA. He died on Dec 4 1990 in Lee County,VA. He was buried in Family Cementery on Dallard's farm outsid Rose Hill, VA. Dallard lived all his life in Lee Co. He was an miner and farmer and a Holiness preacher.
child ii. Walter ARNETT(3) was born on Nov 15 1911 in Lee County,VA.(4) Walter worked for Black Star Coal Corp. (Harlan Co. #@ as a miner and supply clerk. He later worked for Delaware (later Dupont) Powder Co. He lived in Pineville, Ky. He died on Jan 7 1996 in Pineville, KY.
child iii. Arless ARNETT was born on Aug 13 1914 in Lee County,VA. He died on Nov 18 1920 in Lee County,VA. Arless died as results of a snow ball fight. A snow ball in the head.
child iv. Mary Elizabeth ARNETT was born on Jun 21 1915 in Lee County,VA. She died on Nov 25 1918 in Lee County,VA.
child v. William "Paul" ARNETT(4) was born on Jul 29 1917 in Lee County,VA. He died on Feb 18 1985 in Louisville, KY.. Paul had a military carrer where he worked as a cook. He lived all over the world but when he retired he and his wife Martha and later Regina lived in Louisville, KY.
child vi. Joy Gladys ARNETT was born on Jun 14 1920 in Lee County,VA. She died on Sep 28 1920 in Lee County,VA.
child vii. Willard Eugene ARNETT(4) was born on Jul 23 1921 in Lee County,VA. Willard earned a degee at Berea College, his PHD at Colunbia University. He spent his years teaching at Iowa State, Arkansas University, and Chatam College. He retired and lives in the mountians of North Carolina.
