This Indenture made this 29 day of January one thousand eight hundred & 14 between Charles Kilgore and Mary his wife of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia of the one part and James Nickels of the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Charles Kilgore for and in consideration of four hundred dollars lawful money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth here acknowledge hath granted & bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the above named James Nichols a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Russell on the North side of Mockerson ridge it being part of a tract that belonged to George Stacey being seventy five acres more or less, and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a white oak on a clift thence running across the bent of the creek, thence to a beach on the side of the creek, thence up the creek as it runs to the mouth of a dry branch cornering on two beaches, and a dogwood, thence on a conditional line between the said Charles Kilgore and James Green thence running to two white oaks, thence on a conditional line between sd Charles Kilgore and Gray to a bucky & sugartree, thence along the several courses of the line cornering on the south side of Copper Creek, thence up the said creek to the beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land unto the said James Nicles and his heirs forever and the said Charles Kilgore and Mary his wife and their will forever warrant and defend the said tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances to the above named James Nicholas and to his heirs and assigns against the claims of all others. In witness whereof the said Charles Kilgore and Mary his wife have hereunto subscribed their names the day and year above written.

This Indenture made the eleventh day of September one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven between Ebenezer Minto of the one part and Matthias Nichols of the other part, both of the County of Washington and Commonwealth of Virginia witnesseth that the said Ebenezer Minto for and in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds current money of Virginia, to him in hand paid, Doth bargain and sell unto the said Matthias Nichols and his heirs, one certain tract or parcel of land in the said County of Washington on the waters of the North fork of Holsteins river containing ninety one acres by Survey bearing date the second day of May one thousand seven hundred and eighty two and granted to the said Ebenezer Minto by the Commonwealth of Virginia the twentieth day of June one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and bounded as follows, To wit, Beginning at Richard Fields corner, white oak Dogwood and Poplar saplings, thence North fifty one degrees east One hundred and ninety two poles to a black oak and chesnut oak and Dogwood Sapling, South forty four degrees east twenty four poles to a white oak on the side of a hill, South two degrees west eighty six poles to a large sugartree South sixty four degrees west thirty eight poles to a large hicory and chesnut South sixty nine degrees west one hundred and seventy poles to Richard Fields line and with his line North twenty nine degrees east sixty eight poles to the Beginning with its appurtenances To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all its appurtenances to the said Matthias Nichols and his heirs to the said use and behoof of him the said Matthias Nichols and his heirs forever. And the said Ebenezer Minto for himself and his heirs doth covenant with the said Matthias Nichols and his heirs that he the said Ebenezer Minto and his heirs the said land with all the appurtenances unto the said Matthias Nichols and his heirs against all persons whatever will forever warrant and defend. James Wood Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, To all To Whom these presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye, That by virtue of a Land Office Treasury Warrant, Number fourteen thousand, nine hundred and sixty four, issued the fourteenth day of December one thousand, seven hundred and eighty two. There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Matthias Nickles a certain Tract or parcel of Land containing One hundred Acres by Survey bearing date the Seventeenth day of October, one thousand, seven hundred and ninety four, Lying and being in the County of Washington, on the Chesnut ridge on the South branches of the North fork of Holstein River and is bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a Sugar tree Corner to Richard Fields land and running with said Nickles lines thence North sixty nine degrees East one hundred and seventy poles to a large hickory and Chestnut on a ridge, North sixty five degrees East thirty eight poles to a large Sugar tree, thence leaving said line South eighty six degrees East fourteen poles to a Cucumber on a line of Robert Preston's land and with the same South seven degrees West seventy one poles to a chesnut and dogwood on a ridge, South nineteen degrees East eighty seven poles to a Chesnut on said Chesnut Ridge North Seventy one degrees West fifty poles leaving said lines to a Chesnut corner to John Whitbys land, North Seventy five degrees West one hundred and twelve poles crossing a spring branch to a buckeye, and thence North sixty eight and a half degrees West eighty poles to the Beginning With its appurtenances, To have and To hold the said Tract or parcel of Land with its Appurtenances, to the said Matthias Nickles and his Heirs forever. Beverley Randolph Esquire Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, To all To whom these Presents shall come, Greeting: Know ye that by virtue and in consideration of a Land Office Treasury Warrant Number Nine Thousand Seven hundred and ninety five, Issued the Eleventh day of December, One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty one, there is Granted by the said Granted by the said Commonwealth unto Walter Mattinley Assignee of Aaron Lewis a certain tract or Parcel of land, containing one hundred and thirty four Acres, by survey bearing date the Thirteenth day of April, One Thousand seven hundred and Eighty five, lying and being in the County of Washington in the Rich Valley on the North side of the Laurel fork a Branch of the North fork of Holstein river and Bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a spruce pine and maple on the bank of the Creek running thence North forty five degrees West thirty two Poles to a poplar on the side of a ridge, South fifty one degrees West one hundred and Eighty Poles to a Spanish oak, South thirty degrees west Sixty six Poles to a Small black oak on the side of a ridge, South fifty degrees West one hundred and Seventy Poles to two white oaks and two Dogwoods on the West bank of tumbling creek, South fifty degrees east ninety eight Poles crossing the said Creek to two white oaks, thence running North thirty five degrees East Three hundred and thirty Poles up the Laurel fork to the Beginning with its Appurtenances, To Have and To Hold the said tract or Parcel of Land with its appurtenances to the said Walter Mattinley and his Heirs forever. This Indenture made this 19th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty one Between Jacob, Lawrence, Michael, George and Martin Wolf and Caty Wolf widow of Jacob Wolf decd Christian Horner & Mary his wife Adam Baugh and Molley his wife and Michael Baugh & Caty his wife of the one part and John Wolf of the other part, Witnesseth, that the said Caty Wolf widow aforesaid Jacob Wolf Lawrence, Michael, George and Martin Wolf, Christian Horner and Mary his wife, Adam Baugh and Molley his wife, and Michael Baugh and Caty his wife heirs & legatees of Jacob Wolf decd for & in consideration of the sum of four hundred & sixty three dollars to them in hand paid before the ensealing & delivery of these presents by the heirs & legatees aforesaid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained & sold and by these presents do & each of them doth bargain & sell to the said John Wolf his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land ninety acres be the same more or less and lying in the said county of Washington & on a branch of Spruce creek the waters of the middle fork of Holstein river being the land conveyed to the said Jacob Wolf decd by Joseph Hoskins bearing date the 14th day of August 1799 and recorded in the county court of Washington and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a black oak & running west one hundred poles to a poplar & chesnut grub in John Oilers line North ten degrees East one hundred & sixty six poles to a black oak & hiccory on a high hill North eighty two degrees East one hundred & nineteen poles to a black oak South fifteen degrees West ninety two poles to two black oaks & chesnut South thirty eight degrees East seventy eight poles to the Beginning and one other tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres boundaries & courses per patent with their appurtenances To have and Hold the said tracts or parcels of land with their appurtenances to the sd John Wolf his heirs & assigns forever. And the said Jacob Wolf Lawrence, Michael, George and Martin Wolf Christian Horner & Mary his wife, Adam Baugh and Molley his wife and Michael Baugh and Caty his wife heirs as aforesaid & Caty Wolf widow aforesd and each of their heirs will forever Warrant and defend the sd tracts & parcels of land to the sd John Wolf & his heirs and assigns forever against the claim of themselves any one claiming under them & every other person or persons whatsoever. Know all men by these presents that whereas we Catharine Wolf and Mary Horner of the county of Knox & State of Tennessee having claim to a certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in the county of Washington & State of Virginia adjoining the lands of Lawrence Wolf, William Philips and Nicholas Wassum - Now know ye that we Catharine Wolf and Mary Horner of the county & State first above named have made constituted and appointed and by these presents do make constitute and appoint George Wolf of the county & State first above named our true & lawful attorney for us and in our names to sign seal execute & deliver a deed of a release or quit claim to John Wolf of the county of Washington and State of Virginia for the land above described & also to receive & receipt for such sum or sums of money as we may be entitled to in consequence of said release or quit claim. This Indenture made and entered into this nineteenth day of November eighteen hundred and eleven between Samuel Brittan and Mary his wife of the one part and Michael Wolf of the other part both of Washington County and state of Virginia Witnesseth, that the said Samuel Brittan and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the sd Michael Wolf before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the sd Michael Wolf and his lawfull representatives one certain tract or parcel of land containing by a deed of conveyance bearing date the 21st day of Oct 1794 from Stephen Wheeler and wife to the above bound Saml Brittan ninety acres more or less and bounded as follows to wit Beginning on a chesnut on the south side of a ridge a corner to William Philips part of the sd land and with a line of the said Philips south forty six east one hundred and fifty two poles to white oak on the patent line then leaving said Philips line or corner North forty eight degrees east ninety poles to a white oak and dogwood North twenty five degrees west sixty poles to a large poplar North fifty three degrees east twenty two poles to a white a corner to John Hibbons land and with a line of the same North thirty degrees west fifty two to a white oak ash and dogwood south sixty degrees west one hundred and fifty three poles to the Beginning also one other tract ajoining the above containing by deed of conveyance from William Brittan & wife to the said Samuel Brittan for forty acres Beginning at a stake on the north side of a knob running thence N 60 E 104 poles crossing a branch to a gum & small poplar on a Ridge S 40 E 52 poles to a white oak dogwood and ash by a branch and is a corner to Saml Brittans land above and the line thereof S 60 W 163 poles to a chesnut on a ridge corner to Philips land then N 14 E 72 poles to the Beginning with each of their appurtenances to have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land with their appurtenances to the said Michael Wolf and his heirs forever and the said Samuel Brittan and Mary his wife for themselves and each and every of their heirs do covenant and agree with the said Michael Wolf and his heirs that he the said Samuel Brittan & Mary his wife and their heirs the said tracts or parcels of land with their appurtenances sold and intended to be sold to the said Michael Wolf his heirs and assigns against the claim of him the said Samuel Brittan and Mary his wife or any other person or persons whatever will warrant and forever defend. This Indenture made this 20th day of August 1816 Between Michael Wolf of the one part and Martin Wolf of the other part both of the county of Washington and State of Virginia, Witnesseth, that the said Michael Wolf for and in consideration of the sum of Forty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Michael Wolf hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said Martin Wolf and his heirs one certain tract or parcel of land containing six acres and one hundred poles being part of a forty acre tract deeded to the said Michael Wolf as will appear of record, lying in the county of Washington on the waters of Hungers Mother a north branch of the middle fork of Holstein river and is bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a white oak & dogwood stumps on the north bank of a branch running thence N 40 W 52 poles to a poplar & gum S 60 W 25 poles to a hickory on a branch thence down the branch S 53 E 18 poles S 48 E 12 poles S 38 E 18 poles leaving the branch S 53 E 14 poles to a sugar tree on the south side of a spring and near the same N 36 E 14 poles to the Beginning with all its appurtenances To have and To hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Martin Wolf and his heirs forever, And the said Michael Wolf for himself & his heirs do covenant with the said Martin Wolf and his heirs that the said Michael Wolf and his heirs the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Martin Wolf and his heirs against all persons whosoever will forever warrant and defend. This Indenture made this 14th day of August one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine between Joseph Hoskins and Anna his wife of the one part and Jacob Wolf of the other part both of Washington County and State of Virginia Witnesseth that the said Joseph Hoskins and Anna his wife for and in consideration of the sum of ninety pounds to them in hand paid by the said Wolf before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Joseph Hoskins and Anna his wife doth grant bargain and sell and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Jacob Wolf and his heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing ninety acres be the same more or less lying and being in the said County of Washington and on a branch of Spruce Creek the waters of the middle fork of Holstein River granted to John Anderson by patent bearing bearing date the fifth of July one thousand seven hundred and eighty six and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a black oak corner to John Andersons land near a marked poplar West one hundred and thirty eight poles to a poplar chestnut grubb in John Oilers line North ten degrees East one hundred and sixty six poles to a black oak and hickory on a high hill North eighty two degrees East one hundred and nineteen poles to a black oak South fifteen degrees West ninety two poles to two black oaks and chesnut South thirty eight degrees East seventy eight poles to the Beginning and one other tract or parcel of land containg fifty acres per the Register receipt for the plat returned the fourteenth day of September one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight with their appurtenances To have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land with their appurtenances unto the said Wolf and his heirs forever and the said Joseph Hoskins and Anna his wife and their heirs will forever warrant and defend the said tracts or parcels of lands with its appurtenances unto the said Jacob Wolf and his heirs against the claims of themselves their heirs and every person or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the said Joseph Hoskins and Anna his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year above written.
